TPJ Craftie Pick for July: Eraizza Reyes

July 31, 2016

TPJ Craftie Pick is an avenue for The Paper Junkie to feature fellow planner/journal girls and let readers get to know them better through answering a couple of questions!

Howza! This month’s craftie pick is a very kind and down-to-earth planner girl I “discovered” through Instagram. I love how she reaches out to planner newbies (like I once was before!) and encourages them. She’s one of the most approachable planner girls I know that’s why I really wanted to feature her!

I’m sure you’ve seen her get featured on various shops and have admired her spreads like I always have! The Craftie Pick for July is Eraizza Reyes!

  1. Hi Eraizza! Tell us a few things about yourself.
    • For most people, I go by Eraizza, but feel free to call me Rai. I am a nurse by profession and it takes me 8 to (a whopping) 16 hours a day to save lives. I’d rather date my dog and/or my planner than socialize. Lol.
  2. What made you decide to pursue creative planning?
    • I guess you decided to be inspired by others and returning the favor, working hard on your weekly lay-outs; keeping the surprise in each unique design you can come up with (of course with a couple of hours of contemplating which washi goes well with this ephemera…)
  1. What are the benefits of it to you so far?
    • Planning can also make you giddy, temporarily forget about the toxicity level in the hospital you work in. Makes you feel inspired and at the same time good about yourself. Relaxes my mind to be able to squeeze out those creative juices waiting to be extracted (sounds gore… lol).
    1. Who are your #plannerspirations?
      • @scrappinlove, @dedralong, @mygreencow & ofcourse @lionachinky
    1. How many planners/journals do you currently have? (If more than one, please specify what each planner/journal is for and explain how you manage to keep up with it.)
      • I have two personal binder which I use depending upon my mood. It is my main planner which includes monthly, weekly, daily, notes and expenses tracker.
      • A Webster’s Pages Traveler’s Notebook that serves as my memory keeper. It has pictures, tickets, tissues, receipts and some things that remind me of the event.
      • DYL (Design Your Life) planners from cnsdesigns are my stay at home planners. I usually jot down random ideas on it.
    2. How would you define your style in designing your weekly spreads/planner/journal?
      • I don’t really have specifics when it comes to style, I just see to it that the colors complement each other. I try to keep it bright to keep me motivated in writing long lists. Also, I see to it that I allot an ample amount of space for endless errands & daily shenanigans.
    1. Top 3: What are your top 3 planner essentials?
      • Unipin!! I just can’t function without those writing must-haves. Of course I can’t go without β€” stickers, ephemeras, washi tapes, and some cutesy stamps which I just recently found to be really helpful (Don’t judge, late bloomer here…)
    2. Top 3: What are the top 3 items in your wishlist?
      • An A5 websters would definitely be my top 1, followed by a walk-in craft closet β€” I mean, name one planner girl who wouldn’t want that. And lastly, endless supply of craft essentials!
    1. For you, what is planner peace?
      • Planner peace can be temporarily obtained, but let’s be honest here β€” we are almost always indecisive about our beloved craft stuff, may it be the planners or the itsy bitsy stickers we use to design our wo2p. But for me, planner peace is when you can go boasting (only to yourself!!!) about your final decisions which colors to combine or which stickers to use (even sometimes, to cover wrong writings hehe).
    2. If there’s one planner stuff you can’t live without, what would it be?
      • Stickers!! Cause… can’t leave them, can’t live without ’em P.S Big thanks to my friend czarina sophiya for helping me out with these questions!
Stay tuned for next month’s Craftie Pick! Hope you had fun reading Eraizza’s answers!

TPJ Shop Feature: Paper Joy PH

    July 29, 2016

TPJ Shop Feature is a monthly blog series wherein I showcase random shops where you can buy stuff for your planner needs!
Welcome to another segment of TPJ Shop Feature! I hope you already read last month’s edition (if you haven’t, here’s a link) and that you’re prepared for the July Shop Feature.

For this month, we have a shop that’s very close to my heart, Paper Joy PH. One of the main goals of Paper Joy is to be able to help planner girls customize planners to their hearts content. I first met one of the owners of the shop way back in February before she even formally launched it! So I love that I’ve really seen them gain more following and support from the planner community!

Paper Joy PH gave me some stickers for review (the other ones I’ll be featuring here were personally purchased by me) and I really enjoyed playing around with these stickers.

First up are the functional ones! I already have clear stamps for this but the feel of stickers on my spreads add a little spark of happiness that’s why I really love using them in my spread. The first sheet includes stickers for water, cable/tv show, electricity, sharing (prolly social media or wifi), credit card, customized postpaid plans, and rent!

    Functional sticker sheets

The second sheet includes stickers for medicine, check-up, vaccine/injection, dentist, and healing (?). Sorry, not sure about that, or maybe it’s for when you’re nursing a heartache or something. LOL.

    Functional sticker sheets

The third functional sheet includes various cleaning stickers to serve as reminders for chores. This is my least abused sheet because I don’t normally do the cleaning in our house anymore since my Mom moved here.

    Functional sticker sheets

I literally squealed so loud when I saw this me time sheet! I love the idea of putting a mark on my planner for days or hours dedicated for pampering and just relaxing.

This one is a sticker kit enough to design a weekly spread! I love the boho theme for this and I just recently used it in my spread.

    Boho Flair

Unicorns, unicorns, unicorns. Who doesn’t love unicorns? Tbh, the only reason why I got into unicorns was, again, because of the planning community.

    Unicorn

Not really a fan of mermaids, but these mermaid stickers make me want to have looong wavy hair and swim in the ocean! Perfect for summer spreads or just when you feel so summer-y and mermaid-like.

    Mermaid

I’m not a coffee person so these frappe stickers are such a big deal for me! Most of the planner girls in the community really rely on coffee while I have tea and occasional frappes!

    Frappe

Next up is the Doggie Banners! When I got this, all I had in mind was to decorate my spreads with doggie goodness. But now I use them for appointments for vet or errands that have to do with Kikay, our pup!

    Doggie Banner

Last but not the least is the Weekend banner stickers. Everyone really waits around for the weekend and what better way to make it stand out than to use these banner stickers?

Here are some of my past spreads where I used sticker kits from them. I actually haven’t bought any major stickers as of late because I’m still consuming all the stickers I have from Paper Joy!

TPJ Reviews: CN Paper Crafts and Macata Traveler’s Notebook

    July 27, 2016

I love discovering new things, shops, and options in the planning and journaling community. There are so many planners, traveler’s notebooks, and journals all over the internet being sold locally and internationally. Sometimes, it’s disappointing when I stumble upon a product I really, really like and realize that it would need more money for it to get here than the actual price for it. So when I discover more local shops that cater to my passion for planning and journaling, I really get all giddy inside.

I’ve heard of this particular shop a couple of times already but never had the chance to buy any of their products (although I have always admired them from afar). The people from CN Paper Crafts were kind enough to give me my own Macata and I must say that I was really overwhelmed when I received it.

    About CN Paper Crafts

Around June last year, Nissan, and her boyfriend, Christian, decided to set up an online shop on Instagram. They first started selling items for planners such as washi tapes, etc. because she got obsessed with the stuff she saw from other planner girls on IG. When Nissan learned about Traveler’s Notebook (TN), she told Christian about it and they decided to focus on making TNs. Nissan has always loved journal writing and collected lots of pretty notebooks and pens since elementary days. Christian handles logistics while she gets to create beautiful things. Nissan even says, “Suffice it to say, I’m lucky to have someone who supports me.”
So why is it named CN Paper Crafts, you might ask? C and N are their initials! They initially called the shop Paper Town but IG kept on deactivating the account and they think it had to do with the movie Paper Towns showing around that time. So they decided to change the shop’s name and go with CN Paper Crafts instead.
CN Paper Crafts has only been around a year but they already have a huge following and avid supporters from the local planning and journaling community. They offer TN Covers, Inserts, Accessories, and also TN packages.

    Macata Cover

Macata (what they call their traveler’s notebooks) is actually a play on their last names. Nissan loves the fact that it sounds like the Filipino word “Makata“, which means a person that writes poems. The word perfectly encapsulates CN Paper Crafts’ vision to make beautiful writing repositories to inspire you to write beautifully.
I got a Tan Macata in personal size from them and I have to say this, I love the texture of their cover and the felt feel underneath it. It doesn’t easily get wrinkled even though you accidentally fold the tips of the cover. I don’t have much experience with TNs yet but I know there are some people like me who prefer their TNs with scratches and wrinkles but without intentionally doing it to the TN. I don’t know, it just gives a vibe that the TN is really being used!

    Inserts

    They gave me three inserts:
    • 70 gsm white blank which they call their “budget” insert;
    • 100 gsm white blank insert with smooth and thick paper, perfect for calligraphy;
    • and 100 gsm cream blank insert, textured and cream-colored for more character.
I actually tried writing on it already but I still haven’t fully set it up as to how I like it to be. Currently, I make it as an on-the-go brain dump for all my writing and brainstorming needs. I’ve already tried out each page and the 100 gsm cream blank insert is my favorite so far!

    Elastic

My Macata has four elastics which it means it can hold four inserts. Although I believe one can add more elastic to the Macata, I prefer mine just right, not too chunky, or else I’ll find it too bulky for my liking. The elastics are thick, and therefore, I think they will last a long time (I’ll get back to you once I have my Macata all “used up”).

    Charms

I love the charms that came in with my Macata: a tan mini TN charm, a tassel, and an owl charm. I think I can add small blanck pages to my mini Macata and just scribble or doodle on it. I realized, the owl symbolizes my nocturnal self and the way I plan and journal, because I usually do it at night, when my mind is really functioning at its peak. The tassel adds more sass to the Macata and makes it appear more girly than too formal.

    Bonus!

They also sent me a “From the Desk of” notepad, which I use in the office for notes. If you’ve seen my office desk, I have notes taped on the wall for reminders. I’ve already been using the notepad for quick note taking whenever I’m searching something in the internet both for personal and for work.

    Set-up

So, I named her Leia the Macata! Leia has four inserts, three of which were the ones sent over by CN Paper Crafts and the other one is a Dori-Diva inspired wallet insert from Chrisella09 or Filofax Domino that I ordered. This is actually the main reason why I opted for a personal-sized Macata as I had plans of making it into a wallet + on the go brain dump, notes, and to do lists that may pop out when I don’t have my BuJo or my planner. Currently, I have already consumed a few pages for my mind maps for this blog and ideas on how I can be able to improve the reach and content of The Paper Junkie!
I’m still thinking of how I can set it up more creatively so that I can utilize it fully! I’m planning to create a vlog about that (which may be my first attempt at vlogging, I’m still contemplating about it!).

Macata Traveler’s Notebook covers range from P200 – P450 depending on the size. You can choose among a wide variety of colors: Red, Beige, Metallic Black, Pink, White, Bone, Dark Brown, Navy Blue, or you can get a Tan one like mine!

    [GIVEAWAY] #ThePaperJunkieGivesBack!

    July 25, 2016
Hello hello hello!!! (Okay that was such a hyper hello!) I am so excited to write about this as this has been something I’ve been brewing for almost a month just to give a proper “giving back” giveaway to everyone!
As you might have all known, I’ve only started getting serious in the planning and journaling community since this year started. And I have no words as to how loving and welcoming the Philippine planner and journaling community has been to me. Throughout the past seven months, I have learned a lot, acquired a lot of planners and journals, discovered tips and tricks to better planning, and (this is the best part) MET THE MOST AWESOME BUNCH OF PLANNER SISTERS (woohoo I love you PGFTE sisters!!!) Well, isn’t that reason enough to celebrate? So…

I am holding my first giveaway for The Paper Junkie ever!!!

I made a point to include the shops of my PGFTE (well, if you still don’t know it, PGFTE stands for Planner Girls from the East) sisters and some of my trusted shops that were generous enough to giveaway a few stuff from their shops!

So… what will the winner take home?

    • One (1) Silver Notedori from Noted Journal PH – I have my own Notedori and all I can say is that IT. IS. THE. BOMB!!! I brought it with me when I went to Turkey and Bicol and I treat it as a travel journal! Review of Notedori here.
    • One (1) Planner Kit from Paponei’s Gifts – You’ve prolly read my planner kit reviews from Paponei’s Gifts and have seen it on my Instagram and here on the blog. I have become a regular of their planner kit and I must say that each kit is well thought of and well-prepared. Always worth the wait!
    • One (1) Webster’s Pages Color Crush Planner Binder from krafty + kaeratana – Krafty and Kaeratana is one of the kindest and most generous shops I’ve ever dealt with in the Philippine Planner Community. They sent in a Color Crush binder which is I think perfect for both beginners and planner girls who have been involved with planners long enough.
    • One (1) box of shaker clips handmade with love by Crafthappie by Vanj – I can’t think of words to describe how beautiful Vanj’s shaker clips are. I have witnessed her first hand create paper clips and all I can say is that she really creates crafts happily and she is overflowing with creativity. I still envy whoever will win this giveaway!
    • Washi tapes, bookmarks, and stickynotes from @hazelheartscrafts – My good friend Hazel sent in additional stuff for the winner to help you design your spreads!
    • Sticker sheets from Now Geek Out – Don’t let the shop’s name fool you into thinking all Now Geek Out’s stickers are just for geeks! You’ll be surprised to see how dainty the sticker sheets are!
    • Sticker sheets from Paper Joy PH – My my my! My planner is already a “suki” of Paper Joy PH stickers! I can attest to the quality their stickers have and how much passion they put into each design and each set or sheet!
    • Personal WO2P (Week on 2 pages) inserts from Planning Rainbow PH – I super duper love Planning Rainbow PH’s inserts! They’re so smooth and also fountain pen friendly. Review of their shop and products here.
    • A set of 10 Dong-A Hexaplus Fineliners from yours truly – This has been my go to coloured pens ever since I started doodling stuff on my planners and notebooks, around 2012. It may seem cheaper than most leading pens preferred by planner girls but I love it still!

TPJ Craftie Pick for June: Aina Reyes-Paco

    June 22, 2016

TPJ Craftie Pick is an avenue for The Paper Junkie to feature fellow planner/journal girls and let readers get to know them better through answering a couple of questions!

I hope you all enjoyed the first part of this series. For this month, our TPJ Craftie Pick is one of my favorite planner girls out there, Aina Reyes-Paco.

I *shamelessly* stalk her Instagram account everyday because I really love how she styles her spreads. It’s just so clean and so vintage-y that I always have to ask myself, “Why wasn’t I born this talented?” Her calligraphy skills always put me in awe and her feed is just so well-curated I wonder why Instagram hasn’t made her a suggested account yet!

I’m pretty sure you all would like to know about her already so I won’t be prolonging your agony!

    1. Hi Aina! Tell us a few things about yourself.
      • People used to have the impression that I am anti social and a bit aloof… That did hold true until I discovered that there are pen gluttons and paper hoarders like me. I’m a foreign exchange trader by day and a wishful calligrapher the rest of the hours. I’m lucky enough to have a husband who pretends to believe me that almost all my planners are from giveaways. Hah!
    2. What made you decide to pursue creative planning?
      • It has been a derivative of planning, journaling and calligraphy – it was more of continuing this than pursuing. I needed the pen and ink therapy because work has always been stressful.
    1. What are the benefits of it to you so far?
      • I found patience that I never thought I had. My wallet is slimmer and sexier. Creativity lets me express what I think and feel without worrying about what other people will say.
      1. Who are your #plannerspirations?
        • @thedailyroe and @plan2create
      1. How many planners/journals do you currently have? (If more than one, please specify what each planner/journal is for and explain how you manage to keep up with it.)
        • DO I HAVE TO ANSWER THIS?!?
          • Three (3) A5’s that are basically for planning and memory keeping. I have the option of bringing this everywhere I go or I just leave it at home.
          • Eight (8) personal/medium – I bring everyday, depending on the mood and the color I want πŸ˜‚
          • Two (2) Midori Traveler’s Notebook – Weekly planning and weekly reflections and calligraphy
          • One (1) Hobonichi Techo – Where the journaling happens
      2. How would you define your style in designing your weekly spreads/planner/journal?
        • I have always been the type to use typeface designs, maps and all things vintage. I like muted colors and simple geometric designs. I try to go colorful once in a while, muted florals would work but both combined – I will have a heart attack.
      1. Top 3: What are your top 3 planner essentials?
        • My calligraphy pens and nibs, any planner with really good quality inserts and lastly, my washi tapes!!!
      2. Top 3: What are the top 3 items in your wishlist?
        • Hmmmm… Wishlist…
          • I have my eyes set on a Louis Vuitton Damier Azure in MM and GM. I just have to figure out how to have “won” these in a giveaway when I tell my husband.
          • I want to replace my wall of finance books to art and design books.
          • My own franchise of Hobby Lobby! Hah!
      1. For you, what is planner peace?
        • Planner peace is a state of mind. Hah. I kid. Planner peace is having a planner that matches the theme of what I am wearing. But kidding aside, planner peace is within the inserts of the planner itself. I multitask when I use my planner. There is watercolor calligraphy, pointed pen, and even brush pens. Smooth buttery paper beats any brand of planner for me.
      2. If there’s one planner stuff you can’t live without, what would it be?
        • Can it be two?! I guess you don’t have much of a choice because I’m still writing down 2!! Inserts or pages that are just oh so smooth and well laid out and my Pilot G-Tec in 0.4 in Black.
Hope you had fun reading Aina’s answers. I had a good laugh while going through it! πŸ˜‰ Stay tuned for next month’s TPJ Craftie Pick!
