TPJ Shop Feature: Bits to Pieces

November 11, 2016

TPJ Shop Feature is a monthly blog series wherein I showcase random shops where you can buy stuff for your planner needs!

For the month of November, our featured shop is a Filipina-owned and made brand that has also sparked the attention of planner girls from all around the globe. Her very detailed and intricate works and sneak peeks always have me gushing and squealing inside because of awe. I’m pretty sure most of the planner girls in the Philippine planning community feel the same way too! The spotlight is on Bits to Pieces!

Bits to Pieces, owned by Kay Fanlo, simply coined from her shop’s slogan, “From Bits of clay to memorable Pieces“, started back in 2011. Although I’m quite sure that a lot of us already know it, I want to dwell more on Kay’s story.

Kay relays, “I have been in love with arts and crafts since I was a child. I grew up surrounded with relatives who are very crafty. My mom is a dressmaker and my dad being a DIY expert sparked my interest and love for arts and crafts. I was brought up without any new toys to play with so as a child I played with what was available at hand (my dad’s tools and my mom’s materials – buttons, beads, retaso/excess cloth). This taught me how to be creative and resourceful. I remembered feeling so excited when my mom would allow me to go with her to fabric shops for some fabrics, ribbons, laces, buttons and beads.

She even mentioned that when her mom made wedding gowns, her mom would ask her and her sister to put beads on the gown and pay them P500 ($10.32) for the work. I must say that creativity really ran in the family! When Kay was in college and she started earning from her own crafted beaded accessories like butterfly, dragonfly and spider necklaces, some of her crafts were displayed for consignment at a souvenir shop in Eden Nature Park. She continued making those beaded accessories till she graduated from college and had her first job as a customer service representative where she also enjoyed selling beaded accessories to her officemates. Her crafts even reached Cebu because she was transferred to another branch and worked there for almost five years.

Kay also had the opportunity to sell her accessories to some souvenir shops in Bohol like the Bohol Bee Farm Resort when she and her husband went there for a vacation. When they went back to Davao in December 2010, she told her husband that she would like to take a rest and have a good a break before looking for another job. While enjoying her break, Kay searched for things that would make her time more worthwhile.

A photo posted by Kay (@bitstopieces) on

Would you believe she initially searched for the keyword “pottery” on the internet? She had this dream of making her own pots but unfortunately she was not able to look for some resources available in Davao, then she bumped into polymer clays. She discovered that with this material, she could make whatever bead color, style, and charms she wanted using it. So out with the usual selection of seed beads and semi-precious stones from the bead stores, and in with clay! At first it was just a hobby and the love over art and crafts until friends expressed their interest in buying. This is when her brand Bits to Pieces was created last 2011. All the orders kept coming in just by word of mouth and through her Facebook and Instagram account. She then made souvenirs for every occasions and different kind of charms.

Kay also said,  “I love what I do. It’s my passion. It feels like I’m not working at all. The best part of it is being able to spend quality time with my kids at home.” She values quality and customer satisfaction the most. It always gives her joy whenever a customer compliments her work and how her craft made their day more special.

And look at these awesome charms and clips! This angel and Kikki.K Pause charms are perfect for my Kikki.K Pause Planner! I specially love the intricacy of the details though they be but little. Etsy listing of Angel Charm here and the Kikki.K Pause Planner here.

Since I’m starting to fall in love with watercolor, I think this next set is just a perfect reminder for me to practice more! Palette and paint clip set includes one big palette clip and one small tube clip. Etsy listing here.

I can say, upon seeing these items in person, I really am fortunate enough to feature such a creative lady who has a deep love for crafts such as Miss Kay of Bits to Pieces. No wonder a lot of Filipina planner girls are going gaga over her products: they really are beyond beautiful!

TPJ Shop Feature: Little Miss Helper

September 23, 2016

TPJ Shop Feature is a monthly blog series wherein I showcase random shops where you can buy stuff for your planner needs!

Welcome once again, fellow planner and journal junkies! For this month’s edition of TPJ Shop Feature, the featured shop is one of the planner girls’ favorite shops here in the Philippines.
Little Miss Helper is an online shop that sells functional and decorative planner stickers, name stamps, grab bags, and other craft supplies. I first heard about their online shop through the people I followed on Instagram. I ordered my Luke and Leia Sticker kits from her way back on May and she was kind enough to include more sticker samplers and sheets for review. Yay!
So this is what I got from her! Pretty neat, right? I loved staring at it when I received the parcel from Little Miss Helper.
Little Miss Helper Stickers!

I got these cute little sticker samplers! I love adding small details to my spreads and I figured since these were only samplers, I’d use them for something special. And I did! I love the colors and the hexagon-shaped stickers!

Sticker Samplers

Aside from the Star Wars stickers, this one is my favorite! I do wish that these tapes will have actual full rolls in the future. The fourth tape is the tape I liked best in this sheet.
Flamingo Tape

I’m not really into floral designs but this Antlers and Flowers sticker sheet made me fall in love with it! Who knew antlers and flowers could be a perfect mix, right?

Antlers and Flowers sampler

At first, I didn’t really know how I was supposed to use this sheet because as far as I know it’s meant for a MAMBI Happy Planner. But thankfully, my inserts were a perfect fit with it!

A sheet from the Full Bloom Sticker Kit

This Star Wars Family sticker sheet was so cute that I didn’t really want to use it! That, or I’m saving it for a more special spread or somewhere I can use it aside from a planner spread.

Star Wars Family

These Skywalker and Leia sticker sheets are so adorable! I used them both for May since it was Star Wars month!

Skywalker and Leia Sticker Kits

I recently just got to using this Love Mail stickers because I’ve been ordering a lot of stuff again (my wallet is already so mad at me). I was on a no spend month last month so I had no use for it then. LOL.
Love Mail

Because of the planning community, I’m in love with the colors gold and rose gold already – colors which never even crossed my mind to like or love. And this checklist sticker kit made me feel so glitzy and glamorous in plain spreads.

And here’s how I’ve been using my Little Miss Helper stickers! I won an additional set from the PCPH Planner Party last Saturday. πŸ™‚

TPJ Shop Feature: Paper Joy PH

July 29, 2016

TPJ Shop Feature is a monthly blog series wherein I showcase random shops where you can buy stuff for your planner needs!
Welcome to another segment of TPJ Shop Feature! I hope you already read last month’s edition (if you haven’t, here’s a link) and that you’re prepared for the July Shop Feature.

For this month, we have a shop that’s very close to my heart, Paper Joy PH. One of the main goals of Paper Joy is to be able to help planner girls customize planners to their hearts content. I first met one of the owners of the shop way back in February before she even formally launched it! So I love that I’ve really seen them gain more following and support from the planner community!

Paper Joy PH gave me some stickers for review (the other ones I’ll be featuring here were personally purchased by me) and I really enjoyed playing around with these stickers.

First up are the functional ones! I already have clear stamps for this but the feel of stickers on my spreads add a little spark of happiness that’s why I really love using them in my spread. The first sheet includes stickers for water, cable/tv show, electricity, sharing (prolly social media or wifi), credit card, customized postpaid plans, and rent!

Functional sticker sheets

The second sheet includes stickers for medicine, check-up, vaccine/injection, dentist, and healing (?). Sorry, not sure about that, or maybe it’s for when you’re nursing a heartache or something. LOL.

Functional sticker sheets

The third functional sheet includes various cleaning stickers to serve as reminders for chores. This is my least abused sheet because I don’t normally do the cleaning in our house anymore since my Mom moved here.

Functional sticker sheets

I literally squealed so loud when I saw this me time sheet! I love the idea of putting a mark on my planner for days or hours dedicated for pampering and just relaxing.

This one is a sticker kit enough to design a weekly spread! I love the boho theme for this and I just recently used it in my spread.

Boho Flair

Unicorns, unicorns, unicorns. Who doesn’t love unicorns? Tbh, the only reason why I got into unicorns was, again, because of the planning community.

Unicorn

Not really a fan of mermaids, but these mermaid stickers make me want to have looong wavy hair and swim in the ocean! Perfect for summer spreads or just when you feel so summer-y and mermaid-like.

Mermaid

I’m not a coffee person so these frappe stickers are such a big deal for me! Most of the planner girls in the community really rely on coffee while I have tea and occasional frappes!

Frappe

Next up is the Doggie Banners! When I got this, all I had in mind was to decorate my spreads with doggie goodness. But now I use them for appointments for vet or errands that have to do with Kikay, our pup!

Doggie Banner

Last but not the least is the Weekend banner stickers. Everyone really waits around for the weekend and what better way to make it stand out than to use these banner stickers?

Here are some of my past spreads where I used sticker kits from them. I actually haven’t bought any major stickers as of late because I’m still consuming all the stickers I have from Paper Joy!

TPJ Shop Feature: Planning Rainbow PH

June 1, 2016
TPJ Shop Feature is a monthly blog series wherein I showcase random shops where you can buy stuff for your planner needs!

Hi girls (and guys, if any lol)!!! I’m back with another installment to my TPJ Shop Feature series. For the month of June (sorry I totally skipped April and May because I was just too busy with work), I’m featuring the shop of a dear planner sister of mine, Planning Rainbow PH!
Planning Rainbow PH is a shop which sells inserts for ring-bound planners (Pocket, Personal, and A5). The best thing about her inserts is that it’s in 115 gsm paper that is not only thick but is also very smooth! Take note, it’s also fountain pen friendly.
She gave me these inserts for review and I totally loved them all. Sam knows I have a pocket planner and a personal planner, and that I use my pocket for financial related entries so she sent me these!
Expenses Pocket Insert

An Expenses insert where I can jot down all the money I’ve spent. It’s an ongoing log and is really helpful for on the go logs so that I won’t forget it.

Income and Savings Pocket Insert
Next is an Income and Savings insert that I’ve already used last month (but won’t post here for privacy reasons). This helps me track my Income per month or per cut-off, depends entirely and my Savings in various accounts.

Budget Pocket Insert
I also love the Budget Insert layout and how convenient it is for me to track my budget vs. actual expenses. I used to do this in an excel sheet but I really love writing things down on paper more than encoding them.

Bill Payment Pocket Insert
This is one of my favorite pocket inserts. I tend to forget bill due dates so this insert really helped me a lot to keep track of the bills I need to pay.
Order Tracker Pocket Insert
Although I have my own order tracker, I still loved this order tracker pocket insert from Planning Rainbow PH because of its minimalist design. I would recommend this to most of the planner girls out there who seem to order nonstop from various shops so they can keep track of it!

To Do Pocket Insert
I love listing the things I need to do so I can have a clearer view of how I’m supposed to go about with my day, week, or month. I use this insert for my on-the-go reminders that I need to accomplish, do, and/or revisit at the end of the day.
I also love these inserts from her for my personal planner. Two types of Week on Two Pages (Wo2P) , one vertical and the other, horizontal. Although I got really used to horizontal Wo2P, I certainly loved the experience of using the vertical ones (scroll down ’til the end of this post to see what I’ve done with it :> ).

Wo2P Vertical
Wo2P Horizontal
Closer view of Wo2P Horizontal

Planning Rainbow PH also offers a Day on One Page spread which is really suitable for people who prefer to have a huge space for each day. Haven’t tried a layout like this before but I will be putting this to good use this month! The box can accommodate the small size of the LM Hyperdex stamp, in case you have any!

Day on a Page

I won’t be uploading the finance-related inserts because I’ve already filled them out with confidential stuff that I don’t really want the whole world to know LOL. I was able to use both the Wo2P already and tadaaa! Love, love, love how this came out!

Planning Rainbow PH undated inserts price/set are as follows:

  • Pocket – P120
  • Personal – P220
  • A5 – P300
One set is equivalent to 30 weeks worth of inserts for Wo2P and 15 weeks worth of inserts for Wo4P. For this month, Planning Rainbow PH is open for modifications on the existing layouts of spread that she has. And guess what, she’s also planning to venture on creating inserts for Mambi planners! Hooray to Mambi users who will get to experience her high-quality inserts!
I’m pretty sure once I use up all my Webster’s Pages inserts included in the binder I purchased, I will be purchasing from Planning Rainbow for my planners next year!

TPJ Shop Feature: KeenaPrints

March 26, 2016

TPJ Shop Feature is a monthly blog series wherein I showcase random shops where you can buy stuff for your planner needs!
For this month’s Shop Feature, we have Keena Prints! I’ve been following KeenaPrints for quite some time now but was only able to order from them this month. I actually regret not ordering a LOOOT because when I received my KeenaPrints mail and when I opened it, I can’t help but gush how cute the stickers are!
KeenaPrints is an online sticker shop based in the Philippines owned by Keena Vitor. Her stickers are perfect for Erin Condren, Kikki K, Filofax Planners and Midori Traveler’s notebooks. Not to mention, these are all hand-drawn!
I ordered nine stickers from her based on what I wanted and really needed.

Sparkling Teal Mermaid and Sparkling Pink Mermaid

I got these two mermaids because they were just too cute! I was able to use the Teal mermaid recently in my spread for this week. I intent to use these all up!

Happy Day Keenachi and Keenachi OMG Emoticon

I also got the Happy Day Keenachi for days that really just made me happy and the OMG emoticon for days when something really surprising occurs.

Me and You Keenachi and Hexagon bubble Gum shades for to-do lists!

Next is the Me and You Keenachi and the hexas for to-do lists. I use the latter both for design and for to-do lists.

Planning or Studying Keenachi and Idea Keenachi

I’m about to use my Planning Keenachi because I regularly do this every week. The Idea Keenachi is for when a thought or a great idea just pops out of my head and I want to take note of it.

Freebies from Keena Prints and Busy Keenachi
I got these cute freebies upon ordering and the Busy Keenachi is for days when I just feel too swamped with everything.
All in all, I love my first batch of purchase from KeenaPrints. I can’t wait to order more from them. I’m even planning to buy the sticker book! It’s no wonder why even planner girls from other parts of the world love ordering stickers from her. I ordered through her site’s Contact form while taking note of the stickers I wanted to order from her Etsy Shop. But now, I believe, you can already order directly from her website.
